Abstract: In this paper, the application of calcium formate in fertilizer field was discussed in detail, including its promotion effect on plant growth, performance in different soil conditions, synergistic effect with other fertilizer components, and precautions for the use of calcium formate fertilizer.
I. Introduction
With the promotion of agricultural modernization, the demand for efficient, environmentally friendly and multi-functional fertilizers is growing. As a new fertilizer component, calcium formate has been paid more and more attention. It can not only provide nutrients needed by plants, but also has a series of unique physiological functions, which is of great significance to improve crop quality and increase yield.
Second, the properties and characteristics of calcium formate
Calcium formate, with the chemical formula Ca(HCOO)₂, is a white crystalline powder readily soluble in water. Its calcium content is high, up to about 30%, while containing a certain amount of formate, with acidic characteristics.
Third, the role of calcium formate in fertilizer
(1) Provide calcium
Calcium is one of the essential medium elements for plant growth, and plays a key role in the construction of cell wall, the stability of cell membrane structure, and the regulation of cell metabolism. The calcium in calcium formate can be quickly absorbed and utilized by plants, effectively preventing and correcting the symptoms of calcium deficiency in plants, such as cracked fruit and umbilical rot.
(2) Adjusting soil pH
Calcium formate has a certain acidity, can reduce soil pH value after application, especially for alkaline soil, improve soil physical and chemical properties, improve the availability of nutrients.
(3) Promote root growth
Formate can stimulate the growth of plant roots and enhance the ability of roots to absorb nutrients and water, so as to improve the resistance and growth vitality of plants.
(4) Enhance photosynthesis
Appropriate amount of calcium formate can increase the content of chlorophyll in plant leaves, enhance the efficiency of photosynthesis, promote the synthesis and accumulation of carbohydrates, and provide more energy and material basis for plant growth.
The application of calcium formate in different soil conditions
(1) Acidic soil
In acidic soils, the acidity of calcium formate is relatively weak, but it can still provide calcium needed by plants. When used, attention should be paid to cooperating with other alkaline fertilizers to maintain the balance of soil pH.
(2) Alkaline soil
For alkaline soil, the acidification effect of calcium formate is more significant, which can effectively reduce soil pH value, improve soil structure, increase soil permeability and water retention. At the same time, the calcium it provides can alleviate the problem of calcin deficiency caused by soil alkalinity.
(3) saline-alkali land
In saline-alkali land, calcium formate can neutralize alkaline salts in soil and reduce the toxic effect of salt on plants. However, the amount used should be strictly controlled to avoid further accumulation of soil salt.
Fifth, the synergistic effect of calcium formate and other fertilizer components
(A) with nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium fertilizer
The combination of calcium formate with nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other elements can improve the utilization rate of fertilizer, promote the balanced supply of nutrients, and achieve synergistic effect.
(2) Fertilizer with trace elements
With iron, zinc, manganese and other trace element fertilizer, it can improve the effectiveness of trace elements, prevent and correct trace element deficiency.
(3) And organic fertilizer
Combined with organic fertilizer, it can improve the soil microbial environment, promote the decomposition and nutrient release of organic fertilizer, and improve soil fertility.
Six, the use of calcium formate fertilizer and precautions
(1) Methods of use
Calcium formate can be used as a base fertilizer, topdressing fertilizer or foliar fertilizer. The application amount of base fertilizer is generally 20-50 kg per mu; Topdressing can be applied according to the growth stage of the crop and the need for fertilizer. The leaf spraying concentration is generally 0.1%-0.3%.
(2) Precautions
Strictly control the amount used to avoid soil acidification or excess calcin due to excessive application.
Pay attention to the proportion of other fertilizers, and make reasonable allocation according to soil fertility and crop needs.
When stored, it should be moisture-proof, sunscreen, and avoid mixing with alkaline substances.
Vii. Conclusion
As a new fertilizer component, calcium formate plays a significant role in providing plant calcium nutrition, regulating soil pH and promoting root growth. Rational use of calcium formate fertilizer can improve crop yield and quality, improve soil environment, and provide strong support for sustainable agricultural development. However, in practical applications, it is still necessary to scientifically and reasonably select and use according to different soil conditions and crop needs in order to give full play to its advantages and achieve efficient and environmentally friendly agricultural production.
